Wedding day tips and tricks

Over the past month I have had the opportunity to shadow the very talented Audi Brown at Occasions by Audi. She is one of the most generous, kindest people out there. She spent so much time devoted to answering questions I had about her business, how she got started, and her favorite weddings she’s done. Since she shared so much with me, I am here to share what I learned on the job with you.

1. Have someone in charge of the bridal party. whether it be the maid of honor or a bridal assistant, make sure they know where to be and when to be there. Give them every little detail possible. The bridal party is the bride and groom’s closest friends and family. They have so much energy and excitement for the day, if you don’t have someone directing them you’ll lose them to distractions along the way (and there are plenty of distractions).

2. Know your vendors. Caterers, florists, rental companies, etc. Build relationships with them during the planning process. On the day of the wedding you will know who to go to and for what. If you have those personal relationships with them, they may be more likely to help you when you’re in a pinch. Some may even take time out of their schedule to stay during the event to make sure it goes smoothly and to troubleshoot if it doesn’t.

3. ALWAYS have a rain plan. If you don’t, it will rain. Not a superstition, but a fact. It will save a wedding from being ruined. If you’re on a budget and can’t afford to have a back up tent for your outdoor ceremony, pick a venue that offers indoor areas.

4. Keep calm. If you are the bride managing all of these elements, stay calm and don’t stress. You will want to enjoy this day and not remember all of the small details that went wrong. You can easily relieve some stress by delegating tasks to brides maids or family members. If you are the planner you have to be level headed for the bride, who is probably freaking out. It is your job to make sure things run smoothly. You can’t do that without a clear mind.
